Technology over the years has contributed to making life much easier for dentists and their patience. Visiting the dentist for most people, is not something they would enjoy experiencing every day. Due to the amount of pain people experience from teeth cleaning, teeth extractions, filling of cavities and more. As an oral surgeon who specializes in dental implants, I try to make visiting the dentist a pleasant experience. The use of technology in the dentist office has made my job more painless for not only myself but for my patience.

There are a vast amount of tools used in the dentist office that could make any procedure painless. However, knowing the tools and equipment you need are the key to making your patience satisfied. To give you an idea of what tools & equipment to use during procedures, I have highlighted some key options for oral surgeons and dentist.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are a common procedure used to replace missing teeth. Dental implants screw into a patient’s gums to give them the feel of having a natural tooth. Technology has improved the process and look of an implant. Implants not only feel natural to a patient, but also has the appearance of a real tooth. The utilization of a Cone beam CT scan helps give insight on the exact amount and quality of the available bone and selects the implants width and size for optimal integration and stability.

Digital X-Rays

Digital X-Rays is another piece of equipment being used in the dentist office. With the use of a digital X-ray, dentist are able to find cavities, look at the tooth roots, check the status of developing teeth and monitor the health of the healthy teeth. The method of using a digital X-ray is being utilized more than the old method of X-ray, because it contains 90% less radiation than the traditional X-ray. Dentist can use the digital X-ray to educate their patients about the status of their oral health.

Invisalign

The use of Invisalign has been another method used in the dentist industry for a few years and is replacing the use of the traditional braces. For the patients who are insecure about people noticing their braces, using these clear Invisalign braces can be the solution to their problem. Another benefit of wearing Invisalign is having the luxury to eat any type of food. Patients using the traditional braces have food restrictions and deal with the issue of having to clean their braces frequently.

As mentioned before, technology has provided a variety of different tools and methods to improve the work of oral surgeons and dentist. It’s up to the dentist to choose the right equipment to provide the best service for their patients.
